So you are looking for a photographer for your big day, quite a hard task isn’t it? You want someone to capture all those precious moments without all the awkward poses that make you feel silly? Then I might just be able to help you with that!
To me, a wedding is one big party that celebrates two people committing their lives to each other. It’s a day filled with smiles, laughter and maybe even a few tears (the good type of course). My job is to capture all of this so that you feel like you are reliving your special day each time you look over your photos. The approach I take to wedding photography is a photojournalistic one; think story teller. I capture moments in a way that will tell the story of your day in a relaxed, fun, down to earth way. I try to blend in with the crowd, almost as though I am a guest with a big camera. This way I find that everyone relaxes and forgets that I’m there and this allows me to capture the candid, real moments whether it be people having a laugh, shedding a tear or some fun dancefloor antics.
The most important thing to remember is to have fun on your big day! So while we are creating some awesome photos we’ll also have a few laughs, enjoy a bit of banter and quite possibly jump a fence or two if you’re game! There’ll be no canned laughter or cheesy poses with me.
I have always loved taking photos but I honestly never considered it as a career. When I left school, I studied Graphic Design at University and worked as a designer for over a decade. While living in the UK, I had the privilege of working alongside some amazing photographers who inspired me to turn my hobby in to a full-time profession. Several years later, I am now living in Australia and doing what I love for my job!
When I’m not taking photos what do I do? I’m a guy with a lot of hobbies (too many according to my wife). I love motorbikes, surfing, hiking, bonsais, snowboarding and brewing beer…perhaps she has a point. Our favourite thing to do is travel, and we don't care where! Give us a tropical paradise, snow-capped mountains, bustling cities, open landscapes with no one for miles - or even just camping a couple of hours from home. We just love to get out and explore new places and meet new people.
I think I’m a pretty lucky guy, not only do I get to do what I love for a job, I’m also married to the most beautiful and amazing (and patient) woman in the world. We have a couple of little girls, Ivy Grace and Ada Hope who are the light of our lives and keep us on our toes!
